The Department consists of fifteen (15) full-time and two (2) part-time employees including seasonal and daily utility projects such as snow removal, leaf pick up and water and sewer line distribution maintenance and repair. The Utilities Superintendent oversees the overall operation of the department and coordinates employment opportunities.
The Department is responsible for coordinating the city fleet and equipment maintenance and purchases and works closely with the Fire Department, Police Department, Park Department, and the Engineering and Planning Departments as needed, as well as the local New Haven Chamber of Commerce and Festival Committee. The Utilities Superintendent works closely in conjunction with the City Council and Board of Public Works & Safety and works directly under the supervision of the Mayor of New Haven. |
